"We get to do lots of different sports, including competitions with our Federated school and other schools. My favourite sports are dodgeball. I also really love sports day." Freddy, Year 4

Physical Education

Children from Year 2 attend Fore Street Pool in Ipswich for a weekly swimming lesson in the spring term.  All children should meet the basic swimming requirement (25metres) by the time they leave and most achieve significantly in excess of this.  Pupils in years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to complete the National Cycling Proficiency scheme.

Our children have the opportunity to take part in local sports tournaments with other schools. The school has an extensive range of resources and the children enjoy the use of our brand new school sports hall, opened in September 2018, the playground area and the school’s own field on site.

We have a long term plan for PE which ensures all children received a broad and varied PE curriculum. We ensure children experience a range of different sports once they start in class 2.  Each class teacher is responsible for planning their own PE lessons and these are shared between staff to ensure there is a progression of skills.  Older children begin to take part in officiating roles within lessons.  They will referee, coach and organise different aspects of the lesson throughout the block of work to ensure they are developing alternative skills associated with PE and sport.
