Safeguarding
What it means and who can help?
At Otley and Witnesham Primary Schools, the pupils are at the heart of everything we do, and their safety is paramount. All members of staff and governors are committed to keeping the pupils safe and it is our aim that all pupils are well cared for so that they can thrive. Safeguarding is more than protecting children from deliberate harm but it also includes keeping safe online, protection against racist abuse and children missing education.
Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in keeping them safe. To fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals must ensure their approach is child-centred. This means that they must always consider what is in the best interests of the child.
We also have a well-developed pastoral support programme, that includes offers of Early Help for families who may be struggling against debt, poverty, domestic abuse and other factors of vulnerability.
If you have a concern about a child please contact us and let us know about your concern, or use other forms of contact to other agencies if there is a more immediate concern.
