At Otley and Witnesham, children in Reception, Year 1 (and some Year 2s) have daily 20-30 minutes phonics sessions. We follow Little Wandle Letters and Sounds scheme.

Phonics Screening Check 

At the end of year 1, all children will sit a screening check to ensure they have secure phonics skills to support their learning as they move through the school. This will be done 1:1 with an adult your child is comfortable with. It will be a 'fun activity' rather than a scary task. Results of this check will be shared in the end of year report. If you have any questions, please do speak to your class teacher.
