Parent Teacher Association/Witnesham School Association
The objectives of the PTA/WSA are twofold, (i) to encourage closer links between the parents and the school community and (ii) to raise funds to source the “additional extras” which would otherwise be very difficult within the parameters of the school financial budgets. We aim to raise over £2,000pa which is quite an achievement for a school of this size. Over recent years, we have hosted events such as our annual Christmas Fayre, Casino Nights, Sports Days, Tea Parties and Refreshments in conjunction with school events.
Our aspirations are to develop further fundraising opportunities and fresh ideas from new and existing parents are always most welcome.
Fundraising Projects
Below are some examples of how we have provided financial support for the benefit of all the children:-
- Coach travel for school trips
- KS2 summer production
- Benches for the playground
- Shed and other tools for gardening equipment
- Additional laptops to enhance the pupils opportunities to learn
- Dictionaries for Year 6 leavers
We look forward to welcoming new members at any time.
How Can You Get Involved?
There are lots of ways you can help and support your child through the PTA/WSA. Offering to help before events or at other times during the year is so valuable – it really is a case of 'many hands make light work'. It doesn't matter if you can't help on a regular basis, or even if you can't come into school. There are always little jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare e.g. wrapping gifts, preparing raffle tickets etc. We really couldn't achieve what we do without the unseen 'army of help' that exists in school.
You can help by letting us know if you have any contacts or skills we could use – everything is potentially valuable to us. If you are able to help in any way, no matter how small, please let us know via the school office.
